Reverend Bruce David Points, Sr., M.Div., is a native of Cinnaminson, NJ, and is the husband of 46 years to the wonderful woman of faith, Lady Cassandra Points. Pastor and Lady Points are the parents of Bruce Points, Jr. of Washington, DC; and Mary Riley of Philadelphia, PA; and grandparents of Darien & Destiny Branche, and Haviland, Sophia & Bria Points. His calling to Ministerial Life is realized in Ezekiel 22:30 “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”
Pastor Points initially served in ministry in the Beulah Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of Philadelphia. He was ordained and appointed by Bishop Philip Robert Cousin in 1995; and has served the AME Church in Mays Landing, NJ; Mount Holly, NJ; Slaughter Neck, DE; Frederica, DE; Carlisle, PA; Niagara Falls, NY; ZION Philadelphia, PA; and Heard AME Church, Roselle, NJ.
Pastor Points has served the AME Church in many elected positions in the New Jersey, Delaware, Philadelphia & Western New York Annual Conferences; 1st District Marshall and Bishop’s Assistant; Conference Trustee in NY & NJ; and Instructor for the Western New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia Annual Conference Ministerial Institutes. Pastor Points was appointed as Secretary of the South District Commission on Ministerial Education; Parliamentarian on the Executive Board of the AME Ministerial Alliance of Philadelphia and Vicinity; and Alternate Delegate to the 51st & 52nd Sessions of the AME General Conference.
While serving in Pastoral Ministry, Pastor Points has been employed in the field of Developmental Disabilities; as a Teacher of Autistic Youth and those affected by Traumatic Brain Injury; as a Program Manager, training and employing Adults with Developmental Disabilities; as a Case Manager and Behavior Management Instructor for the State of Delaware Workforce, serving families of Adults with Developmental Disabilities; Staff Training Coordinator for BETHANNA Human Services, Carson Valley Children’s Aid and Director of Training at The Arc of Mercer County, NJ. He also served on the BETHANNA Community Advisory Board for Central, South and Southwest Philadelphia, and currently as Secretary of the BETHANNA Inc. Board of Directors.
Pastor Points is a Lifelong Learner: doing undergraduate work in Human Services, at DTCC & Geneva College/Center for Urban Theological Studies in Philadelphia and earning his Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg.
Pastor Points is a Pastor/Teacher: who walks in the Favor of God and teaches the Life Application of Scripture, seeking to instill the light of understanding in every believer. “Everybody is Somebody, in Jesus. Pastor Points has recently stepped out of the active pastorate to focus on research study and book writing as God calls him to account for his faithfulness to the original calling: “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”
