Rich in history and overflowing with the love of God, Bethel AME church is a long-established part of the Pennsauken community. The current building was erected in 1926—making us the oldest church in Pennsauken—but Bethel traces its roots back to the 1800’s where it was once part of the Underground Railroad. Then, Pennsauken was known as Jordantown and Bethel was Jordantown Church. Over the years Bethel AME continued to grow by extending God’s love to others.
It has been shepherded by approximately 47 different pastors, including our current leadership Reverend Richard F. Norris II and his wife Patricia Norris. In 2017, Bethel merged with Hosanna AME church of Camden to become Bethel-Hosanna AME. Together we have flourished into an undeniable house of praise and worship.
On December 31, 2023, BHP held its last Sunday Morning Worship Service at 8216 Park Ave. and that evening brought in 2024 in prayer at our new Worship & Ministry Center at 3465 Haddonfield Road in Pennsauken.
We are also home to a growing number of ministries aimed at serving church members of all ages, along with the surrounding community. We welcome you to join us on any Sunday for a relatable word from God and an uplifting worship experience.
